What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
Growing up on a farm instilled in me a love of all animals and a desire to see them cared for. My education imparted a love for science and a desire to understand how the body works, what causes it to break, and subsequently, how to fix it!
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I love seeing the genuine joy on owners’ faces when they come in with their new pet, whether it’s a puppy, or a senior adoption. The reward of seeing a pet that was very sick wag their tail or purr their way out to the car after a recheck exam that gave them a clean bill of health. The hardest but also most genuine aspect of veterinary medicine can also be a joy, and that is witnessing the outpouring of a lifetime of love as we help ease a pet’s passing, knowing that every tear shed is a small fraction of the love that was shared over that pet’s lifetime.
Special areas of interest?
Cranial Cruciate surgery (ACL injuries) in dogs has become my primary area of interest/focus over the past several years, motivating me to seek out additional training and expertise in how best to provide care for these injuries. I also have a special interest in emergency medicine, having worked at ER and provided relief support for the local emergency clinics.
Anything else you’d like clients to know?
I am truly invested in ensuring that your pet receives the absolute best care that we can provide. Veterinary care is a team sport. On that team, I am the options guy, you (the pet owner) are the decision maker. The options I provide are what I feel are in the best interest of your pet’s health and providing them an expedient recovery. It is also important that people know that I will never make a recommendation for a patient that I would not be willing to do for my own pets in the same situation.
What do you love most about working at AWC?
I love that we are a small privately owned group that has the benefit of being able to scale. We have access to the brainpower of doctors from all different backgrounds and experience levels which helps us to ensure that the medicine we practice at any one of our locations adheres only to the highest standard of care!

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
Being an advocate for animals.
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I enjoy educating pet parents on how to better take care of their pets and helping owners understand why we recommend the care we do.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
My approach is to create a calm and comfortable environment for both the pet and the owner. With anxious pets, I like to get down on the floor so I’m at their level and let them come to me at their own pace. This helps build trust and reduces fear. With first-time pet owners, I like to start with small conversation and ask how they’re doing. I believe people want to feel heard and important, and when they feel comfortable, it helps build trust and makes the visit better for both them and their pet. 🐾
One thing you wish every pet owner knew?
As pets age, it’s common for owners to assume that slowing down is simply part of getting older. However, changes in activity, mobility, or behavior can often mean a pet is experiencing pain or discomfort. Aging pets don’t need less care, they usually need more. With the right treatments and support, we can help them stay comfortable and active.
What do you love most about working at AWC?
I love the team and support you get!

Dentistry.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
Going slow with the animal and lots of pets, and making sure to over explain everything, so an owner feels comfortable enough to continue asking questions as they feel necessary.

What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I love the unconditional love that pets give us and that we give in return.
Special areas of interest?
I really like laboratory work, I love an excuse to look at something under a microscope.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
Every pet’s anxiety is a little different and you can usually tell how to approach them based on their body language. By reading their body language I try to help them in the best way I can while keeping them as comfortable as I can.
What do you love most about working at AWC?
It is like working with family. We are all very close and when someone is not present you can feel their presence is missing. It is clear how much we all care about each other and our pets.
Anything else you’d like clients to know?
I am currently in school and will hopefully get my CVT license soon.

What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
Getting to know everyone. Seeing familiar faces, and hearing new stories. Being able to truly connect with everyone.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
Taking my time, there’s no need to rush. I don’t like going to the Doctor, but at least I can talk to mine. Pets can’t tell us what’s wrong, and we can’t explain to them why they are at the clinic. We can make everything smoother and more calm by being patient. I like to be transparent with new pet owners. And never worry about asking questions, we are here to help you!
Pets of your own?
Of course! Currently I have two cats. Stark, named after Tony Stark/Iron Man, is the eldest. He’s just a big ol’ cuddle bug, but he always has a nonchalant attitude. But he has many opinions about going to the vet. Karlach, named after a character in the video game Baldur’s Gate 3, is the youngest. She will never leave me unattended, and will follow me around my home. She loves love, but is not a big fan of being held.
What do you love most about working at AWC?
Besides obviously seeing all the pets that come in, I love working with my team. We have such different personalities that just harmonize together. Working with them every day is amazing, and I’m lucky to have a supportive and compassionate team.
Outside of work?
I enjoy a number of things from playing video games to going on hikes. I love seeing new movies, but I typically don’t stray too far from my comfort TV shows. But most of all I enjoy being a homebody with my whole household.

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
What inspires me most is that every day I get to be a voice for a patient who can’t speak for themselves, while also building trust with the people who care about them the most. That balance of medicine, empathy, and problem solving is what drew me to veterinary medicine and keeps me passionate about it.
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I think what I enjoy most is the combination of personalities both the pets and their families. Every animal that walks through the door is completely different. You might meet a confident dog who thinks the clinic is his personal social event, a cat who strongly disagrees with being there, or a nervous pet that just needs a little patience and kindness to feel safe. I really enjoy taking the time to understand those personalities and helping them feel more comfortable. At the same time, I love connecting with the owners. For most people, their pet is family, so being able to reassure them, educate them, and sometimes even celebrate good health with them makes the work really meaningful. There’s something really special about seeing the relief on an owner’s face when their pet is okay.
Special areas of interest?
I’m really interested in learning more about animal behavior and low-stress handling techniques. I think understanding how pets communicate through their body language is incredibly important, especially when they’re anxious or in an unfamiliar environment. I’m also very interested in preventative care and client education.
What do you love most about working at AWC?
What I really like about working here is that everyone is allowed to have a voice. It creates an environment where people feel comfortable sharing ideas, asking questions, and supporting each other.
One thing you wish every pet owner knew?
One thing I wish every pet owner knew is how important the small, everyday observations are. Pets can’t tell us when something feels off, so changes in things like appetite, energy level, behavior, or even bathroom habits can be some of the earliest signs that something isn’t right.
