What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
She knew early on that she wanted a career in medicine, initially considering pediatrics before realizing veterinary medicine offered the perfect blend of patient care and problem-solving. Because animals cannot communicate what’s wrong, she was drawn to the investigative nature of the field — using observation, critical thinking, and clinical skill to uncover the root of each issue
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is witnessing the bond between pets and their families. Helping a sick pet recover and return home to the people who love them is what continues to drive her passion for the profession.
Special areas of interest?
Dentistry, internal medicine, and veterinary spinal manipulation therapy.
Pets of your own?
Beau, a French Bulldog who frequently accompanies her to work; Murphy, an energetic German Shorthaired Pointer; Kevin, a sweet senior cat; and Polly, a spirited polydactyl cat.
Outside of work?
Spending time with her wife Stephanie and their son Hunter, along with birdwatching, home and yard projects, following local sports teams, and maintaining an impressive baseball card collection.

I’ve always been drawn to the bond between people and their animals and wanted the knowledge to relieve their pain and protect their well-being.

Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
I try to use gentle handling and plenty of high-value treats, praise, and breaks so the pet can regroup and for first-time pet owners, I explain each step before I do it, in simple language, and invite questions at every stage.

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
I’m the typical veterinarian, I always wanted to be a veterinarian. Growing up I had lofty goals. My dream was to be a veterinarian, or the first woman president, or the first woman pope.
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I love the connection I have with clients. 2 of my closest friends started out as clients. I enjoy seeing families grow and change.
Special areas of interest?
I enjoy doing ultrasounds on pets.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
With pets: it’s my goal to make every visit easy and calming. I definitely over explain things to owners, and their pets. I’m a firm believer in open communication. I don’t like anyone walking away confused or concerned. I want clients to ask me any question. That’s how we both learn.
Pets of your own?
I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Dogs: Portia is a husky, so she’s crazy. Even though she’s 13. Taffy is a nearly 16 year old Pekinese. James is a female DSH cat that is 1. She enjoys having most of the house to herself, at least she acts like she’s the only being that matters. Potato is an approximately 2–3 years old DLH. My daughter found him on the summer fest grounds, but during the Irish Fest set up. He was dehydrated and had a foreign body in his intestines. My husband, Dr. Ben, performed surgery to remove the plastic he ingested. He’s been living in my bedroom ever since.

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
Ever since I was little I have loved animals. I remember playing make believe veterinary visits with my cousins as a kid, using stuffed animals as patients. One of my first memorable books I had was an A–Z dog breed book and I read it multiple times. I loved learning about different breeds, anatomies of different species, etc. The love of animals has always been a backbone to what makes me who I am!
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I enjoy meeting like minded clients who love their pets like I love my own. It is a good feeling to be able to educate owners on the best care possible for their pets. To be able to provide and advocate for the best care of a sick patient and to see the relief of an owner when their baby feels better. I love being a part of that.
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
I try to keep a calm and steady voice with non threatening body language. I feel a lot of sympathy for clients and their pets, so I try to talk as gently as possible and answer any questions they have to the best of my ability.
One thing you wish every pet owner knew?
Caring for an animal is a lifetime commitment. Not only that, but it is not cheap. It is best to be prepared for any situation regarding your pet so they are able to get the care they need. A great way to help prevent costly treatments is to keep your pet on monthly preventions and take your pet in for a yearly wellness visit with a veterinarian.
Anything else you’d like clients to know?
I will always do my best to provide your pet with the best care possible!

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
I wanted to be helpful and care for pets because they can not speak for themselves. I want to help keep them healthy or make them feel better when they are hurting.
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I have enjoyed building a relationship with the pets and the owners and going through their pets’ lives with them.
Special areas of interest?
I really enjoy caring for our senior pets. And helping the doctors keep them as active and healthy as we can as they age.
Pets of your own?
I have had and loved many cats and dogs over the years. Currently I have 2 dogs. A very feisty 13 year old Yorkie named Stella and Olive who is the sweetest most affectionate Sheltie.
One thing you wish every pet owner knew?
It would be that they are so stoic. Often times you won’t realize that something is wrong soon enough. That is why yearly check ups and some testing is so important.

What inspired you to pursue veterinary medicine (or your field)?
I’ve always loved animals and grew up knowing I wanted a career where I could help them. Over time, that passion grew into wanting to support both pets and the people who care about them.
What do you enjoy most about working with pets and their families?
I love getting to know each pet’s personality and building relationships with their families.
Special areas of interest?
“I’m especially interested in preventative care because helping owners understand their pet’s health can make such a big difference long-term. I also love working with exotics and pocket pets!”
Your approach to anxious pets or first-time owners?
I try to read each pet’s body language and go at their pace so they don’t feel pushed past their comfort level. Staying calm, patient, and explaining things to owners helps both pets and their families feel more relaxed during the visit.
Anything else you’d like clients to know?
Not that I can think of at this time!! Maybe that I’m hoping to go to vet school soon :)
